Performance meets adventure.

The future of gravel is here.

Proven Geometry, Evolved

Shafer positions riders centrally for an “in the bike” feel, with size-specific chainstays (425–440mm) that balance weight distribution and handling across all sizes. A slack 69° head angle with 50mm fork offset delivers stability and agility, while refined design reduces toe overlap—even on smaller frames—for a smoother, more confident ride.

Massive Tires

Shafer brings clearance for 29x2.25” (700x58c) tires with wide rims for added traction, comfort, and speed over rough terrain.

Over 200g lighter

Refined tube shapes and junctions cut significant weight without sacrificing strength, bringing the medium frame down to just 928g and the suspension-corrected carbon fork to 491g, all while adding new features like downtube storage.

Suspension Fork Ready

Shafer is compatible with 60mm suspension forks, preserving geometry while boosting control and comfort on rough roads. It blurs the line between gravel and XC, adding even more capability to an already versatile bike.

Press reviews

Serious performance. Straightforward value.

Impressive quality for its price tag and solid on-trail performance to go with it.

An extensive fit process before sending the bike so that it’s ready to rock.

A lot of value without resorting to common cost-cutting measures.

What a Bike!

If you are hesitant at all about buying this bike, don't be. I have had so much fun on it so far and it really can handle most things i throw at it. Western Colorado Gravel is pretty rough and highly eroded, but the Shafer even with the rigid fork and a pair of Dubnitals i put on myself, can handle any sort of gravel and soft single track i have thrown at it. It might be the best all-rounder for the price period. Don't sleep on Ari!

bikepacking/touring

I have the 2023 version which I use for light bikepacking and touring. Purchased because of the geometry, worked out really well. Rode cross country with the bike and bikepacking week trips. The setup shown in link hopefully. https://youtu.be/Sh6YsdECRs8 Looks like V3 is a bit nicer, like the seatpost clamp change, wider tires is nicer. So as a bikepacking / touring bike for an old guy worked out really well. I do have the 2x11 mullet setup because long days I wanted close gearing with a wide range, (46,30 11-42)

THE gravel bike

After having done a 14 day bike-packing trip in the PNW alongside 5000 extra kilometres on this bike I can confidently say this is the best bike i’ve ever owned. The versatility has been the best trait of this bike. I’ve tweaked it from slightly every Trip, race/event and season I don’t think i’d pick a different bike on any of those rides i’ve done.

I love my new ARI Shafer 3.0! I opted for the InvisaFrame protection and they did a great job of installing it. The bike fit based upon my measurements supplied was perfect.

  1. 01 Unbox and check contents

Remove packaging foam and zip-ties. Confirm the small-parts box has pedals, thru-axle and multitool.

  2. 02 Install the handlebar

Center the bar, set roll, and tighten faceplate bolts evenly in a cross pattern.

  3. 03 Fit the front wheel

Seat the rotor between the pads, insert the thru-axle from the non-drive side and close to spec.

  4. 04 Set saddle height

With the dropper fully extended, set height so your knee is slightly bent at the bottom of the stroke.

  5. 05 Install pedals

Grease threads. The left pedal is reverse-threaded.

  6. 06 Set suspension and tires

Set sag for your weight using your fork and shock manuals, then check tire pressure against the sidewall range.

Common questions

Still deciding? Our team rides these bikes and can help you find the right setup.

Who is this bike for?

Shafer cyclists appreciate versatility in cycling, combining the love for both on-road efficiency and off-road adventure. This cyclist seeks the freedom to explore less-traveled paths, such as gravel roads, forest tracks, and light trails, without being limited by the capabilities of a traditional road bike.

Do you offer financing?

Yes, at checkout there are several options available for financing.

How long will it take to arrive?

Estimated lead times are listed under each model's size in the bike builder. Times may vary a little based on current conditions, frame size, color, and availability.

What is the biggest tire size the Shafer can accommodate?

700x58c (29x2.25) is the max recommended tire size.

Can the Shafer run a suspension fork?

Suspension gravel forks such as the RockShox Rudy XL, RockShox Rudy, 32AX, MRP Baxter, or Suntour GVX can be installed on the Shafer frame. You can add it during checkout on our website. If you choose to get one on your own later, we recommend running the longer fork offset option (as close to 50mm as possible). The stock fork axle-to-crown measurement is 440mm.

What are the headset dimensions?

The Standardized Headset Identification System (SHIS) is IS52 / 28.6 | IS52 / 40 (45°). This is used with the 1.5”/1.5” headtube. We have chosen to use the FSA SRS headsets for simple, clean cable management. FSA ACR is also compatible if the matching stem is also used.

What is the bottom bracket frame spec?

68mm English thread. Our philosophy is simple: if the bike is intended to be ridden in the dirt, it gets a threaded bottom bracket. Threaded bottom brackets are easier to service.

What are the dimensions of the rear hub and rear axle?

The rear hub is 142mm x 12mm. The axle dimensions are M12 x 167.5mm long x 15mm thread length x 1.0mm thread pitch.

What are the dimensions of the front hub and fork axle?

The front hub is 100mm x 12mm. The axle dimensions are M12 x 118mm long x 14mm thread length x 1.50mm thread pitch.

How are the cables routed?

All cables are routed through the headset. We have chosen to use the FSA SRS headsets for simple, clean cable management. This also helps keep the cables out of the way if you install a handlebar bag.

Can the Shafer run an internal dropper post?

The Shafer can use an internal dropper post with a diameter of 27.2mm.

What is the frame weight of the Shafer?

The Shafer frame weighs 928g in a size medium in the Raw Carbon/Ozark Sunset colorway. The carbon fork weighs 491 grams.

What testing was done on the Shafer? Will it hold up to the demands of gravel and off-road riding?

The Shafer was machine-tested to cross-country mountain bike standards. We also added additional tests, like a rear impact test, to be sure the frame exceeds expectations in durability. Many different frames and frame sizes were also test-ridden thousands of miles in all types of conditions. You can ride confidently on the Shafer knowing it is backed by our Limited Lifetime Warranty.

How many water bottles can the Shafer hold?

Each size frame can fit 2 bottles inside the front triangle, along with additional mounts on the top tube, underside of the down tube, and fork legs.

What size chainrings work with the Shafer?

Chainrings from 36T to 52T can be used on the Shafer to take you everywhere from loaded bikepacking expeditions to race days.

Can I put fenders on my Shafer?

Yes, there are mounts for fenders in the fork and seatstays.

How will it arrive?

All Ari bikes go through our Custom Setup process, making sure the bike is fit and tuned specifically to you. They are test-ridden before delivery. If your bike is shipped to you, it’s still tuned and ready to ride and requires just a few minutes of assembly.

What about service?

You can work directly with us, one of our recommended shops, or work through your local shop.

What is the warranty?

Each frame comes with a Lifetime Warranty. Ari-branded frames come with a transferable warranty as well.

What is the guarantee?
How does transferable warranty on Ari bikes work?

Ari-branded frames come with a transferable frame warranty available to the second owner. The second owner can receive a one-year frame warranty from the date they purchase the bike from the original owner. Warranty only transfers once. All Ari bikes must have the transfer documented from the original owner to the new owner here in order to qualify for a transferable warranty.
